1. Some gardening tool:
First you can think of the type of gardening gift that will make their gardening easier. It can be a new kind of gardening tool. Many gardeners spend a lot of time doing repetitive actions, such as planting bulbs or pruning their bushes.
While you can get these jobs done with basic tools, it’s possible to get them done easier and quicker with specialty tools. You can get a bulb planter, a pruner, a lawn aerator, or any number of other handy gardening tools. So if you hear your friend complaining about how difficult a certain task is make it easier for your friend by getting a gift that will make this specific task easier.
2. Seeds, bulbs or plants that your gardener friend needs:
Another kind of gardening gift is to get your friend some seeds, bulbs, or plants to add to their garden. This can be a tricky one, since there are so many factors that need to be taken into considerations.
You do not want to get him something that can be found in all the gardens where he stays, but, if you stay far apart and you can bring him a plant typical to your area that is difficult to get where he stays, that will make a very good gift. You also want to make sure your gift will not give him problems. Make sure your plant does not take hours of work per day to maintain it. Usually giving seeds, bulbs or a plant is only a good idea if you know it is something he really wants and has been looking for.
Bringing a plant from somewhere overseas used to be a good idea but, now with the possibility of important diseases and other pests it is best not to do it. Most countries forbid it in any case. Plants have to be imported through the proper channels to avoid problems.
3. Subscription to a gardening magazine:
A subscription to a gardening magazine is always a very safe gift to give your gardener friend. Al gardeners love gardening magazines, just make sure he is not receiving it yet.
4. Fun and novelty gardening items:
You can also buy your friend fun gardening novelty items, such as bumper stickers, refrigerator magnets, or artwork related to gardening. Just try and think of what can make your friend’s life easier.
As with all gifts, if it is at all possible, ask someone close to your friend for ideas. Your gift can still be a surprise if the other person gives you advice without letting your friend know. Gardening gifts can be great fun to choose and give. Take a little time and you are sure to come up with exactly the right gardening gift for your friend.
